Preventing ACL Injuries
Howard Physical Therapy is a certified provider for the Sportsmetric ACL Injury Prevention and Training Program. This program is the first, and largest, program scientifically proven to reduce ACL injuries in the female athlete. Female athletes, especially those involved in soccer, volleyball and basketball, are 4-6 times more likely to suffer a tear of the ACL. This critical ligament, located in the knee, is responsible for providing stability during running, jumping and cutting activities. Through a carefully designed program of neuromuscular retraining, athletic performance can be improved while concurrently reducing the risk of non-contact injury. Each program is designed to be administered over a 6 week period during the preseason. For information, or to set up a training program for your school or club athletes, call Howard Physical Therapy at 716-608-9522.
